Top 3 State Parks You Can’t Miss in Texas

Aside from having some super awesome beaches and places to camp, Texas is also home to some really interesting state parks that you should definitely check out before you leave – especially if you like caves! Here are a few of the top state parks that you really don’t want to miss while you are travelling through the wide open state of Texas.

  1. The Palo Duro Canyon State Park. You know how Arizona is known for having the Grand Canyon? Well Palo Duro is pretty impressive canyon itself – some even liken it to the one in Arizona. It’s definitely a must see if you are in Texas, especially if you have never been to Arizona.
  2. Longhorn Caverns State Park. This is really neat cavern that has been a hideout for quite a few famous fugitives, Native Americans and local celebrities over the years. The actual rock formations look pretty nifty too!
  3. The Lost Maples State Park. This is an amazing state park that can really send you away with some super awesome photos to boot! The trees are beautiful shades of red, yellow and orange as soon as fall rolls around each year – colors that most people don’t associate with the southwestern desert states.

There are of course other really neat state parks that aren’t on the list – in fact there are enough of them to keep you fully occupied for several weeks. However, the above three are some of the most popular ones that visitors come from all over the world to see.
